Computers and mobile phones are great for sharing things, talking to friends and meeting people. But there are people who want to use computers and mobiles to get close to children and young people so that they can harm them.

That doesn't mean that children and young people shouldn't go online or use their mobile. Technology provides tremendous opportunties for children and young people to learn and discover.

But it does mean that there are things children and young people can do to make their use of technology safer.

Parents and carers need to understand about these issues as well. Understand what children are doing online and understand what you can do to support and protect children and young people as they make use of technology.
