Core Programme Level 2
A multi-agency course aimed at front line workers who wish to gain a better understanding of the role and remit of the Children’s Reporter and the Children's Hearing Process with regard to Child Protection.
Target Audience
All practitioners/managers who work with children/young people and practitioners/managers who work with adults who are parents/carers. Relevant staff across agencies who may in the course of their work be required to attend and/or provide reports for a childrens hearing. Participants will be required to demonstrate that this course is relevant to their work situation.
Pre-requisite knowledge
Participants will require to have an awareness and understanding of their own agency’s child protection policies and procedures before they apply for this course. Also participants will be required to demonstrate that this course is relevant to their work situation
Aims
Participants will: -
- understand the role and powers of the Reporter in the Child Protection process.
- know more about the referral process.
- be aware of how best to present information to a Children's Hearing - both written and verbal be introduced to the court process - applications and appeals
- be clear about when compulsory intervention is necessary and the powers of the Children's Panel.
This course will be a participative experience for attendees and will provide ample opportunities to clarify understanding.
